The Fancy (But Weak) Trio

Hey, Apple Sheep, Apple released three new cases for the iPhone X and double the cost, you get double the case. Yes, we do take bitcoin, cash, credit, debit, kidneys, and bank accounts. So, let’s talk about the Apple Silicone, Leather, and Folio Cases.

Please Stick to Me

Starting off with the Silicone Case, it’s a grippy case that makes you stick to the hands of Apple. Unlike other similar case styles, Apple has a thin coating on top of the silicone. That means after using it for a few months, it will start to wear and tear. Don’t worry though; it’s not that noticeable. They come in a lot of colors like Blue Cobalt, Rose Red, Charcoal Gray, Midnight Blue, and other leading case colors. In addition to the primary case colors, there are seasonal ones like Spicy Orange and Flash. At $39 it comes with one free year Apple Care. That means if the thin coating I talked about earlier get ripped off by your drops, then you can take it to the Apple Store and get a replacement. Now, actually where are the downfalls of the case is what you might be asking. Well first, if you’re like most people who put their phones into pockets with this case, it’s hard. Why? Because even though that grippy case will stick to your hands (which is good), it can also be sticky when putting into pockets. That means this case is pretty much a dust + lint collector. The real main thing that’s not good about this is it lacks what most cases are designed to do, protect your phone. There isn’t that much of the case that protects it, to avoid this, I recommend a screen protector. With that, the $39 Apple Silicone Case does do something, but this isn’t cutting it for most people. Now, do you know another case that won’t cut it for even more people? Enter, the Apple Leather + Folio Case.

It’s Like the Leather Wrapped Honda Civic Steering Wheel, It Doesn’t Do Anything, But It Looks Good

The $49 Apple Leather Case is a case that’s made to stand out from the others. It’s like saying screw you on top of the $1,000 phone you were wealthy enough to get. It’s made out of European Leather which makes the phone feel smooth. Because it’s smooth, putting it into your pocket is like butter on bread. That though is also why you might not want this. Because it’s so smooth, holding it is like holding a fragile art installation. On the side are metal buttons that are incredibly clicky. You can equate this case to the Honda Civic Steering Wheel, it doesn’t do anything great, but it does look pretty good. Now, for this case, you better add it with a screen protector or the screen might crack and oh, $300+ down the faucet. Overall it’s a case that has good looks but has no purpose. If you want a case that also protects the front, you have to consider the $99 Apple Folio Case.

Double the Case, Double the Cost, Oh, and Double the Apple Tax

If you are a true Apple Sheep, this is the case to be dreaming for. Its design is so sleek. Its thin leather will not keep its place the second you touch it; scratches will start to be visible instantly. Although you get to say you have a one of a kind case made by your drops and falls into the sink. The purpose of the Folio Case is mainly for storing random things. With that, Apple has made two pockets but don’t put your credit cards into the second pocket as this may demagnetize your credit cards (yes, it has magnets). In the first pocket, you can store about 2-3 credit cards before it starts putting pressure on your fine leather. In the second pocket, you can put in things like a business card, a key card, or cash (just to show that you’re incredibly wealthy). The magnets if you were wondering about that is so that it can help auto lock and unlock like that Apple’s Folio Case Collection Smart Leather Case for the iPad. The way Apple designed it made it kind of useful. If you use folio cases, you’ll appreciate how it feels almost twice as much stuff but looks like a regular folio case thanks to that thin leather. It does have downfalls but ways to compensate it. One thing is how do you make calls? Well, you can just leave it closed (not entirely though) because the microphone is just close enough for you to use. You can also just put it on the back side of the phone. So how about taking photos? You can move the folio case just a bit to the right from the camera, so it doesn’t block it. This seems like I’m saying you should get it but there’s one thing that would pull me back from this case. The price. At $99 it’s not worth the spending as you’ve already invested $1,000+ for a phone. If you are a true Apple Sheep, then go ahead, buy this case.

So, Imaginary Friend, What Should I Get?

So if you were thinking about investing, you might be asking your imaginary friend, “What should I get?”, if you want the cheapest of them all and want something that actually can do something good for your phone, the Silicone Case is the one for you. If you want just a regular case that looks good and feels good, then go for the Leather Cases. Finally, if you want the top of the line case, a case that gives full protection, and can allow you to just take your phone when shopping, the Apple Folio Case MIGHT be for you.
