AAAwall.pngEver since Donald Trump has became president of the United States, he’s made some huge changes and said some huge things. He has made popular  the idea of building a wall between Mexico and the United States. The idea of building a wall has been around for much longer. The idea behind the wall is to build a wall that blocks out illegal immigrants. The wall will cost much, and people are debating whether this is a good idea. The wall should not be built because it will cost much, there are environmental issues  and also because the public people do not favor it.

Money is a huge issue when it comes to projects like these. The border of Mexico is approximately 1,990 miles. A barrier has been tried before with the result as a simple word: failing. Private landowners refused to some buyout offers, and some lawsuits. The wall would be a futile project, with many people protesting and disagreeing. In one part of the wall, there would be sand dunes which would be even more costly.  Army Corps of Engineers and the Congressional Research Service indicate that the total cost of the 650-mile fence has been $7 billion. And that doesn’t include maintenance and upkeep.

Secondly, there are many environmental issues. The building of the wall would need to require purchasing a lot of private property, from people who may not want to. The wall will also force an Indian tribe to sell their land. According to the US Fish and Wildlife services, more than 30 endangered, or threatened species live on the Arizona border. The wall would force the animals to relocate to other not as adaptable places.

Thirdly, the public people do not approve of the wall. According to Bloomberg, “People have also stated that building a wall is ‘not important’ with 40% believing that is so.”  People believe the wall would be not of much use and isn’t important and necessary enough to spend a large sum of money on. Politico.com has also published articles that view the wall as a negative impact. “More than six in 10 — 61 percent — of the thousands of adults surveyed, said they oppose the construction of a wall along the entire border with Mexico, as Trump has proposed throughout his campaign.” This shows that the majority of people oppose the wall.

In conclusion, the wall should not be constructed  because there will a substantial amount of money to be collected, there are geographical problems and also because the general people do not approve of it. What Trump will do remains to be seen.
