Halloween; a time for scares and frights. But what is more frightening, a murderous clown or a basic, boring Halloween costume? Well if you answered yes for the second option, not to worry because here are 5 awesome Halloween/costume party outfits that you can create on your own!
#1- Eleven. This costume is based on the character Eleven from the recent hit Netflix T.V show “Stranger Things.”
You will need:
- Pink babydoll dress
- Blonde wig
- White sneakers
- Tube socks
- Eggos
Optional: fake blood for a more dramatic effect
#2- Grapes. This costume is really fun and easy to create, it will definitely be a crowd entertainer.
You will need:
- between 20 purple balloons (# depends on your body size)
- A dark colored shirt
- Safety pins
Optional: green felt, scissors and a green headband
Directions: This costume is really simple. First you have to blow up your balloons, start with about 15 or 20 and then proceed if you need more to cover your entire body. Next begin to pin the ends of your blown up balloon onto your shirt, using the safety pins. Once you have finished covering your entire shirt, the grape costume is complete! An additional step is to take a green headband and cut out green felt leaves to glue onto the headband.
Reminders: Make sure you don’t blow the balloon up too much or else the “grapes” will began to bend down and not stand straight on your shirt. Also be sure to put the pin through the part of the balloon that is not blown up, otherwise your balloon will pop.
#3- Smartie Pants. This costume is a bit punny, but really easy to create. Plus you can snack on some candy through the night.
You will need:
- Suspenders
- Nerd glasses
- Smarties (the candy)
Directions: First attach your suspenders to your clothes, and put on your nerd glasses. Next begin scattering your smarties around your pants in any order you would like, stripes, chevron, random, any pattern will do. Then just tape them on and you’re done.
#4- A gumball machine. This costume is really cute, and can be changed to your liking.
You will need:
- Gray felt
- Black Sharpie
- Multi-colored pom-poms
- A white t-shirt
- Red skirt
- Tape/ or fabric glue
Directions: Start off by cutting your gray felt into a square with an approximate size of 3 inches by 3 inches. Next take your black sharpie and write 25 cents in the middle of the felt, and on the top draw a small circle with a diagonal line going through, then draw a smaller square underneath the words 25 cents. Now tape or glue this onto the top area of your skirt. Next take your white shirt and some fabric glue and begin gluing your pompoms all around your white t-shirt, you can cover the whole thing, just the front or even just glue it to form a circle of pom-poms. Now just put it all on and you’re ready to go!
#5- “The Cereal Killer.” This costume is a play on words as well as a classic punny costume.
You will need:
- Plastic knives
- Empty cereal boxes
Optional: Fake Blood
Directions: This costume is pretty simple, first start by taking a plain t-shirt and gluing on a few cereal boxes onto it. Before gluing the shirts on, stick plastic knives through the center of the cereal boxes. This is optional but if you would like you can spread some fake blood on the boxes of cereal and your shirt to make it look scarier, and it’s done!
